GOOGLE PIXEL WATCH 2

As a follow up to the first generation, Pixel Watch 2 brings the same iconic design while overhauling a number of design aspects to accommodate faster charging, next gen sensor hub, and refinements to improve durability, ergonomics and cost.

NEW, YET FAMILIAR

A strategic move to fast (contact) charging from wireless charging meant a overhaul of our back housing. Stainless Steel electrodes surround a new radial sensor hub layout, with four charging pins integrated. (See before and after visual below)

sustainable

100% recycled aluminum housing, reducing carbon emissions, and enabling a lighter, more comfortable device.

Bands

Building upon the collection of bands launched with Pixel Watch 1, we expanded the offering to include 2 new bands, in addition to refreshing the colors in the existing collection to complement the 2023 Pixel ecosystem.

Active Sport Band

Perforated, soft silicone band for improved breathability during the most intense workouts.

Thin metal

Jewelry-inspired design that brings a whole new silhouette to Pixel Watch. With custom easy-sizing links, it brings elegant comfort to the portfolio.

A family of products

My role on this program was Industrial Design Lead and Manager, working closely with the Senior Industrial Designer and Lead Band Designer on my team. At the start of the development the FitBit team, newly acquired by Google, came onboard. My role was to get to know the new team and stakeholders as we were designing and building, advocating for the design intent, brainstorming with Engineering to remove the crown notch in the glass for improved product durability (and cost) and adapting the back housing to house new FitBit sensors and compatible fast charger.

The experience brought the twos companies close together, and today we operate as one extended team.
